VALIMED RESOURCE CENTER
FAQs
How long has ValiMed been in use?
ValiMed was first installed in 2004 for beta testing, with a full-formulary introduction of the ValiMed System in 2007.
How much time does it take to test a medication using a ValiMed System?
It depends on the medication being tested, but actual testing times range from 1 second to nearly 1 minute from the start of the test to the displayed result.
What is the minimum amount of medication required to run a test on ValiMed?
ValiMed requires only 0.15ml of a substance to perform a validation test.
Can a printer be used with ValiMed for record keeping?
Yes. ValiMed provides the user with the ability to print both an immediate results label (for log books or product packaging) as well as final reports detailing validation results across many different filters (ie date, user, technician, practitioner, medication).
How long are testing results stored on the ValiMed System?
ValiMed keeps all testing results indefinitely. Comprehensive and detailed reporting assists administrators in complying with requirements guidelines.
Does ValiMed allow tracking of the compounding accuracy of individual or a group of pharmacy technicians?
Yes. The Reports Generator allows you to track the accuracy of an individual or group of pharmacy technicians by several sorting functions such as individual, group, period of time and medication. A technician’s performance can easily be compared, evaluated and tracked to insure they are compounding accurately every time. Armed with this data, new safety improvement protocols can be evaluated for effectiveness, days, weeks or months after implementation, insuring safety programs are achieving the desired effects.
Does ValiMed facilitate the training of individual pharmacy technicians?
Yes, in several ways. First the Reports Generator discussed above allows tracking of performance which lends itself to training by monitoring objective evidence of past performance and providing goals for future performance. In addition, after the medication is established on-site and each time that a medication is tested, ValiMed will provide real-time feedback regarding accuracy of that particular sample (e.g., 2.3 standard deviations away). This provides instantaneous and objective feedback of performance.
Does ValiMed provide indications concerning instances of narcotic diversion?
Yes. First, as each return narcotic is tested, ValiMed provides instantaneous feedback concerning the potential for diversion of that particular sample. In addition, the Reports Generator trends deviations/exceptions of return narcotics on an individual or group basis. This tracks patterns of practice, identifying potential problems that can be further investigated.
Does ValiMed allow for the real-time review of compounding accuracy remote from the ValiMed Unit?
Yes, director-selected individuals can use their PCs to track compounding accuracy in real-time. In addition, Reports Generator function allows you to access and review all reports remotely.
